First stop - Bränneriets gård

Since we now have a little baby of three months we focus on trips close to home. Last week we packed our car and took a day trip to the mid of Skåne. To practice what we preach we visited sustainable farms growing and producing organic food.

First stop at Bränneriets Gård, a farm on the countryside with a farm shop and café. We have visites loads of farm shops over the years but I must say this is one of the best. They bake everything themselfs and you practically enjoy your coffee out in the farmland.

Another fun thing, especially with kids, is that you can pick your own berries, at the moment blueberries, currants and blackberries but we just took a walk around the lush farm. This is a lovely place with lovely values where they focus on 100 percent organic and everything they don't grow themselfs are locally produced.
Second stop - Ådala gård

After another twenty minutes in the car we arrive to Ådala Gård (Adala farm) in the middle of the woods. In a lovely clearing this farm appears and serves us the most amazing gazpacho ever, much better then the most served in Spain actually. Perhaps the home grown vegetables does it. The lovely couple running this farm grow almost everything themselfs and produce the best cheese we've ever had outside France.

In the small farm shop we get to taste all of their different cheese varieties before buying and this is why I love small dairys who actually take time to really talk to their costumers. The pride they take in their products shine through and if i wasn't for other customers in the shop we could stay forever.

The gazpacho is served with crisp focaccia and garlic cream cheese in the shade of the trees. If you love food, if you are a foodie like us you must visit this artisan dairy where everything is organic. The cheese is made of milk from a nearby farm called Gunnaröds Gård - our next destination.

Third stop - Gunnaröds gård

I've followed this farm on instagram for a while and when they got their milk machine I just knew we had to go there. You tap the milk from a machine in a glas bottle and pay with credit card - we just love it. It's innovative, it's old school in a remastered contemporary form.

The farm shop is small but offers meat from the farm, some vegetables and other organic produce like drinks and candy. We focus on milk and buy some beef for tonights dinner.

Everything going on plates or in our mounth starts with a seed. Nowadays with food just appearing in the supermarket it's easy to forget the effort it takes to produce good food. Think about it for a while, the time and love it takes for a tomato to go from seed into plant, flower, pollination from a bee so that plant will bear fruit and the need of love, water and warmth for it to grow and turn red.

Food needs our respect and we need to respect nature in all it's splendor to bring us more. We need to respect time, the time it takes to naturally produce everything we grow. You can't hurry a baby coming into the world, what makes us think we could or should hurry plants to grow? It's a twisted way of thinking that nature is suppose to adapt to our rapid way of living. If we let it take the time it needs then we're blessed with the sweetest of fruit and vegetables.

Food is political but as a consumer you hold the power in your hand. Even if you think you are small in this big world of consuming every time you choose something sustainable produced you save the world and the values of farming.

Plant a seed today, ask in your supermarket what's grown close to you and most important, choose something organic even if just one little thing.

For us as foodies it's important not just to eat food but to make sure the food we eat do not put even more burden on this planet. Our footprints needs to be clean and every day we make choices that effect us and every one else. You don't just have the possibility but responsibility to buy sustainable. Choose carefully, choose organic!

The way we travel has changed over the years. In our twenties we focused on sun, beach and party and now the focus lies on completely different things. But for me, Lina, there is one common denominator - I love to meet new people. In fact I love it so much I am thinking of starting a B&B at home so that I can meet people on the go when I don't have the chance to travel myselt. There is something special about people on the road..

How we choose destinations? We let food lead us, we go where there is food we want to enjoy. It's important for us to be able to have fresh fish and seafood, vegetables and other lovely produce. And not to be forgotten, cheese! Therefor we love to travel to France and Spain.

For us travel is almost a religion and a holistic experience so we want every trip we make to be something special. We want to experience the best in food the destination has to offer. We walk around endless hours to find lovely food but don't care at all if we miss all the tourist attractions you are suppose to see.

No matter where in the world we are we need a kitchen, we need a kitchen like the fish needs its water. Not beeing able to cook from lovely local produce would be a punishment and we rather then stay at home. We love to fill every place we live in with aromas of garlic, lemons, herbs and the sweet smell of seafood turning red in the pan.

It always takes loads of time to find the perfect accommodation. We spend hours after hours finding a place in the right area, with the right amenities, terrace or balcony and of course a kitchen where we can cook. All these needs requires an apartment and normally we rent one through AirBnb or other websites on the internet.

One more thing, if we live close to a market it's a major plus!
Numera reser vi på ett helt annat sätt än när vi var runt 20. Då fokuserade vi framförallt på sol, strand och party men nu har saker förändrats. Men för mig, Lina, finns en gemensam nämnare  - jag älskar att träffa nya människor. Faktum är att jag älskar det så mycket att jag funderar på att starta ett B&B hemma så att jag kan möta resande människor när jag inte har chans att resa själv. Det är något speciellt med folk som är på väg någonstans..

Hur vi väljer resmål? Vi låter maten leda oss och och vi reser dit det finns mat vi vill äta. Det är viktigt att vi kan få tag på färsk fisk och skaldjur, grönsaker och andra härliga lokala produkter. Och inte att förglömma, ost! Därför älskar vi att resa till Frankrike och Spanien.

För oss är våra resor nästan som en religion, som en andlig upplevelse och vi vill att varje resa blir speciell. Vi vill uppleva den bästa maten som resmålet har att erbjuda och vi kan gå runt i timmar efter bra mat men missa varje turistattraktion.

Oavsett vart i världen vi är så behöver vi ett kök. Vi behöver ett kök lika mycket som en fisk behöver sitt vatten och att inte ha chansen att laga underbar mat av lokala råvaror är som ett straff och då stannar vi hellre hemma. Vi vill kunna fylla stället vi bor på med dofter av vitlök, citron, örter och den söta lukten av skaldjur som blir tillagade i pannan.

När vi ska boka boende så tar det alltid oerhört mycket tid.Vi spenderar timme efter timme med att hitta ett på rätt ställe, med de rätta bekvämligheterna, terrass eller balkong och såklart ett kök där vi kan laga mat. Eftersom vi har de önskemål som vi har så behöver vi en lägenhet och vi hyr oftast genom AirBnb eller andra motsvarande hemsidor på nätet.

Ja och en sak till, om vi bor nära en marknad så är det ett stort plus!
